20 June 2019 STATEMENT OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, H. E. ILIR META
Ten days have elapsed since the Decree of the President of the Republic for the annulment of the elections dated June 30th has come into power, with the purpose of calming the situation down and enabling opportunities for dialogue, which would normalize the political situation and would create the opportunity for an inclusive, democratic and new local elections date.
I emphasize once again that it is by no means the moment for a demonstration of force, for divisive and provocative rhetoric, but for maturity and high accountability about the national interests of the country and the sustainability of the European integration which is the national objective of all Albanians.
Once again, I strongly insist on the importance of dialogue among the sides and at the same time expressing my willingness to contribute to finding a solution as soon as possible.
