President Meta receives the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, at the same time the Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, H.E. Zbigniew Rau

The President of the Republic, H.E. Ilir Meta held a meeting yesterday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, at the same time the Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, H. E. Zbigniew Rau, accompanied by the Ambassador of Poland to Albania, H.E. Monika Zuchniak–Pazdan and also the Head of the OSCE Presence to Tirana, Ambassador Vincenzo del Monaco.

President Meta and Minister Rau exchanged views about the cooperation between the two countries in the framework of OSCE, on the most sensitive issues on the Organization’s agenda, focusing on the security situation in Europe following the unjustified and unprovoked Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The President of Albania and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland confirmed the position of their respective countries in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and also pointed out that the Russian aggression must stop immediately and Russia must withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

President Meta stated that he fully supports the Polish priorities at the leadership of the Organization and that he believes that the OSCE represents a key factor for peace and security on our continent and an excellent platform to discuss issues related to the inclusive security.

The Head of State praised the contribution of the OSCE Presence in Albania regarding the democratic developments in the country and encouraged its support for the implementation of the required reforms in the country’s path towards the European Union.

President Meta also appreciated the support that Poland has provided to the integration processes of Albania and all Western Balkan countries in Euro-Atlantic structures and stressed the need to open as soon as possible the membership negotiations of Albania and Northern Macedonia with the European Union, as well as the visa liberalization for the citizens of the Republic of Kosova.

The President of Albania and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland praised our bilateral relations as excellent and committed themselves to their further strengthening, in areas such as infrastructure, transport, tourism, agriculture and energy as well.

The increase of the number of Polish tourists in Albania and the establishment of direct air transport lines between Albania and Poland were highly considered and appreciated by both parties.
