Petraq Milo is Prof. Dr. of economy awarded in 2013 by the University of Tirana. He holds a PhD in economy from the CERDI Institute of Economic Studies (University of Clermont-Ferrand, France, 1999). Graduate in Master Degree of Economic Policy Administration at CERDI Institute of Economic Studies (University of Clermont-Ferrand, France, 1996). Graduated in Bachelor in Economics for Industry in 1988 from the Faculty of Economy of University of Tirana. Graduated Officer of Artillery in 1981 at United Military High School.
His career began as a higher education lecture, economist and manager in the trade and industry sectors, and then in 1991 at the Ministry of Finance as Director of Price and Salary, then Director of Macroeconomic Analysis, and hereinafter General Director of the Budget. In 1996 he worked at the World Bank in Washington D.C., (USA). Also, he provided consultancy in the projects at CERDI (France), French Development Agency (France); World Bank; GIZ (Germany) and European Union.
In the period 2000 – 2005, he held senior leadership positions in Kosovo in Pillar 4 of the European Union and the United Nations (UNMIK), as Director of Budget at the Central Fiscal Authority, Head of Policies Office, Head of Fiscal Office and Secretary of Economic and Fiscal Council. Member of the Board of Governors of the Banking Authority of Kosovo in 2003-2005, as a representative of UNMIK.
From 2005 to 2013 he held the position of Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania on public finances and monetary policy. And, from November 2019 he holds the position of Economic Advisor to the President of the Republic.
Mr. Milo has also many years of engagement as a member of the Oil Corporation Board (1992-1994), member of the Social Security Board (1992-1994); President of Debt Committee (1994); member of KESH Board (2005-2006); Chairman of the Board of INSIG (2006-2011). Member of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania from 2011 to 2018.
In the academic field he has been engaged as a lecturer at the CERDI Institute of Economic Studies (Clermont-Ferrand University, France); as an assistant professor at the University of Tirana and the Institute of European Studies; as an Assistant Professor at the University of Business and Technology (Kosovo); as an Assistant Professor and Founder of South East European University (Macedonia). From 2013 onwards he is a lecturer of public finance at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Tirana. He is the author of studies and publication of books, as well as leader of Master’s and Doctoral studies in the field of economics and public finance.
He is fluent in English, French and Italian.
Mr. Petraq Milo is married and has two children.
